An earthquake 6.0 on the Richter scale devastated central Italy on 24 August 2016. The first quake occurred at 3:36 am, with its epicenter in the municipality of Accumoli and at a depth of 8 km. The earthquake destroyed the four inhabited centers located near the epicenter, in addition to Accumoli, Amatrice, Arquata del Tronto and its fraction of Pescara del Tronto, in the Marche region, were demolished. The entire territory, on the whole slope, underwent an estimated geological lowering of between 15 and 20 centimeters, causing a mutation in the conformation of the soil, creating many difficulties in reconstruction. Over 300 victims, to which are added, 388 injured and 41,000 displaced persons, forced to abandon their homes for security reasons, or as a precaution. Dozens of photographers, journalists and media workers rushed to the affected areas.
